All of my life I have lived within an hour-and-a-half of some of the most notorious NASCAR speedways. I have a bounty of friends who love NASCAR go to the local races (even the smaller ones) and have their favorite driver. To me, NASCAR is simply being able to make slightly left turns at high speeds.
However, I have already been informed my presumptions of the sport is wrong and once I go to a live event I will be hooked. It is doubtful to me because so far every time I try to watch a race on TV, I nap instead. But, I am willing to give it a fair shot and see if a live NASCAR event will finally help me formulate an opinion on Dale Earnhardt Jr. or Kevin Harvick. If nothing else, the people watching should be worth my time.
