I attempted several times to start learning to play the piano before I turned 30. However, I let time, distractions, and an overall lack of manual dexterity subvert my efforts to complete this goal.
I love music but other than the steering wheel drums, I can’t play an instrument to save my life. Learning to play three songs on an instrument I have never played before is going to be one whopper of a task for me. But I am going to learn to do a little tap-tap-tap-a-roo on the ivories. Don’t worry singing will not be part of the deal.
I have always loved the piano and how it can bridge genres of music. I have not settled at this point what songs I will try to play but they will be more complicated than Chopsticks. I am not sure if I will do a rock song, worship song, classical song or combination of them. I am also not sure what method I will employ to learn these songs. Whether I will simply learn what keys I need to mash, or if I will learn the notes and memorize their order, or if I will be so bold as to actually read what I am playing off sheet music is still to be determined.
