When I was in college I took a Tai Chi class. And by took a Tai Chi class I mean I attended the first day of class and dropped it for either something that was more interesting or had more girls (I honestly can’t remember which). However, I remember the teacher was a rather heavy-set man and yet his movements appeared easy and very fluid. It was actually very impressive.
Tai Chi has recently been put under research and scientific scrutiny. So far it has been found to reduce stress and may actually reduce anxiety and depression, improve balance, flexibility and muscle strength, improve sleep quality, lower blood pressure and increase energy, endurance and agility.
If half of those are true and work, it is certainly worth understanding and learning this ancient technique. A preliminary search shows there are a ton of videos on YouTube so that is probably where I will learn it rather than taking an actual class.
