Some time in the 70s my father left England, where he was born and raised, for grad school in Canada. There he met my mum and after they were married, they moved to the United States. With my birth, I became the first American citizen in my family. And while this branch of the family has remained in the United States, my dad’s side of the family is still across the pond, mostly residing in England.
I have been over there to visit my Grandpa, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins five times over the span of my life. Most of you see these same family members that much in a year. In addition to the family, one of my best friends from college moved over to England his wife and baby. So with multiple reasons to visit and plenty of places to stay, I am only limited by two excuses. Time and money.
I figure that despite the costs, over the next decade I can find a way to buy a ticket, use some vacation time and make a return visit to England. The last time I was there was in April of 2001 and I am sure a lot has changed especially with the Olympics coming to London.
