40 Things to Do Before 40
Those of you who were really, really paying attention to my 30 by 30 list would have found this goal was one of my originals for that list. In other words, I have been ready to have a dog for several years. However, I want to get a yellow labrador and my roommate is allergic to dogs and does not want them in his house.
As stated in my goal to buy a house, my roommate and I will not be together forever. In fact, I fully intended on buying a dog right around the same time I buy a house so I can get the initial costs and the acclimation period over with both at the same time.
Recently two of my friends got labrador puppies and they are exactly what I imagined and want. My mother has always had labs as guide dogs but because of the training program we have always gotten them when they were already 2-3 years old. She just got a 20-month old male lab that is full of energy but I love hanging out with him. I want to get that tiny little six-week old puppy and raise it up. I welcome the work because the companionship and fun is well worth it.
