40 Things to Do Before 40
It seems the American dream has always been to own your own and property and that is no different for me. My parents have been homeowners almost from the time they set foot soil on this land. But me? I have always rented. Over the past few years, I have been afforded a great roommate. But we can’t live together forever. Eventually, God-willing, he and/or I will meet a nice girl that we want to marry and our time as roomies will be over.
Rather than try to find a another roommate, I want to be prepared to find and buy my own home. There are a lot of things I want to have the freedom to do that you just can’t do with renting. I want to be able have a garden, build a deck, have my own workshop, etc. I am definitely wanting an actual free-standing house as opposed to a townhouse or condo. Partially because I loathe HOAs and want to be in a neighborhood where they are minimal at best. But also because I just want to have my space.
I know houses are a lot of work. They can be expensive to maintain. They require time, effort and energy for daily upkeep. But, these are some of the things I actually look forward to. Money and the right house will be a huge detriment to getting this complete. However, this is one of my more ambitious goals that I am really looking forward to.
