When I made my 30 by 30 list, one of the things I set out to do was go hunting for a deer. However, it was somewhat of a struggle to find a gun to use and then when I did, I was nervous about transporting it the whole time because I feared there was some crazy gun law I missed.
I have always been a really good shot with guns and want to continue to use them and get better for when I actually do need one. I eventually want a gun for home and personal protection and at least one for hunting. While I fully intend to get some use out of a hunting rifle, my hope is that I never ever have to use the handgun for it’s intended purpose. However, people in my family have been robbed at gun point more than once. My brother has owned guns and had his concealed weapons permit since he was old enough to do so.
The reason I want my concealed carry permit is not so I can walk around with a gun at all times. But it is for when I decide to carry or transport my gun, I am protected by not only the Constitution but also a current set of laws that allows me to do so. Again, I hope I never have to use it but if I ever do, I want to use it for the greater good and with one shot.
Eventually I would like a handgun, hunting rifle and a shotgun.
